ACUTE CARDIOVASCULAR CARE ASSOCIATION

ACCA

ACCA Congress 2019, Malaga (ES)

Nicola Gasparetto

In 2019 the annual meeting of Acute Cardiovascular Care Association of the ESC was held in Malaga from 2 to 4 March (Fig 1). This is the leading scientific event for all healthcare professionals working in acute cardiac care. This meeting brings together cardiologists, intensivists, anaesthesiologists, internists, cardiac surgeons, nurses, paramedics and other allied professionals who care for acutely ill cardiac patients.

The program offered in-depth presentations, organized in more than 60 sessions, by leading experts on acute coronary syndromes, acute heart failure, reperfusion and revascularization, circulatory support in shock or pre-shock, management of arrhythmias in the acute setting, general intensive care, as well as secondary prevention with a focus on antithrombotic therapy, lipid-lowering and anti-diabetics. High participation with more than 1000 healthcare professionals from over 70 countries. Italy was the first country as number of delegate.

Research was at the heart of the congress thanks to the latest results send as abstract as well as challenging clinical cases. Out of 525 abstract accepted, 48 are Italian. One of the Italian abstract, presented by Dr. Claudio Montalto from Pavia with the title “Prospective validation of ACCA quality indicators on optimal medical therapy in consecutive patients with acute myocardial infarction of a tertiary care center”, won the ACCA Research Prize 2019.
